Biothera and Essential Science Announce Business Collaboration
Edzell, October 1 2007 - Essential Science Ltd is working with Biothera, Minnesota, USA to identify and develop licensing opportunities for Biothera’s novel, cotherapy, Imprime PGG.
Imprime PGG is a natural component of yeast cell walls. Biothera have extensive data including Phase I trial data supporting the mechanism of action and potential role of Imprime PGG as a cotherapy to enhance the biological and therapeutic activity of monoclonal antibody therapies in oncology. Biothera are initiating Phase II studies in combination with marketed antibody therapeutics and are interested in licensing and co-development partners for the technology.
Therapeutic efficacy continues to be a significant issue for many development stage monoclonal antibodies. Biothera’s Imprime PGG potentially represents a significant advance in enhancing MAb efficacy in a range of cancer indications.
